ART SHOW

Alright. Say you're an artist. You've just completed your masterwork — a spectacular oil-on-canvas rendition of cyborg hedgehogs rampaging through downtown Schenectady. Now what? Would you: a) arrange for a showing at Sotheby's, b) cut up the canvas into tiny squares and run them through a salad shooter, thereby converting the piece into a work of performance art, or c) display and possibly sell it at the DemiCon IV art show? Given these options, 9 out of 10 artists choose option a). But, as Sotheby's is rather snooty about the art they accept, those same artists usually settle for option c). This, however, is lucky for us. In fact, Sotheby's must be refusing more art every year, 'cause the DemiCon art show keeps on growing. Over 600 works were submitted last year, and the initial figures for this year suggest that another increase is likely.

To better accomodate the artists and their work, we have moved and expanded our facilities. The art show rooms are now located downstairs. If you follow the signage to the new lower-level location, you'll find not one, but three art rooms — a large display area, a print shop, and an "artist workspace." All artists are invited to use the workspace during the convention, which will also be employed for shceduled art demonstrations.
