ART SHOW
Bidding and Buying
-
General Info. Items can be purchased in one of three ways — via
standard bidding, quick-sale, or the print shop. Cash and checks will be
accepted; we cannot accept credit cards this year. Pieces purchased via
standard bidding or quick-sale may be picked up late Saturday or on Sunday.
The print shop is run on a cash-and-carry basis.
-
Standard Bidding. Unless marked "NFS" or "Sold — Quick Sale,"
works in the display area will be available for purchase via bidding. Bids
must be in whole-dollar increments; non-whole dollar bids will be rounded up to
the nearest dollar. Pieces with only one bid must be purchased by that bidder
on Sunday for the bid price. Pieces with two or more bids, and award-winning
pieces with one or more bids, will be takn to auction Saturday night at 7 p.m.
(Main Programming). If no bids are placed during the auction, the work reverts
to the last bidder; otherwise, the highest bid at auction takes the piece.
-
Quick-Sale. Display pieces may be purchased immediately for
the indicated quick-sale price — but only if the piece has
received no standard bids. Pieces containing even one bid
can only be purchased by outbidding all other bidders. While purchasing a
piece via quick-sale guarantees that you will receive the piece, under no
circumstances will any art be allowed to leave the display area before 6 p.m.
on Saturday; other people get really mad when the art show gets stripped
before they have a chance to see everything. Items purchased via quick-sale
may be picked up late Saturday after the auction or early Sunday. If you have
additional questions about how the quick-sale procedure works, please don't
hesitate to talk with one of the art show staff.
-
Print Shop. All pieces in the print shop are available for immediate
purchase. You may take your purchases with you as soon as they are paid for.
Questions? See one of the friendly folks on the art show staff, or ask to
speak to Jeannette "Please-Ghod-Let-the-Artists-Make-Some-Money" Roth (the
DemiCon IV art show sucker… er, chairperson).
