Well-concealed in the brightly lit (isn't that an oxymoron?) lower level of HoJo are the gaming rooms. Spon-sored by the Adventurers of Central Iowa, the gaming programming is extensive and promises to be most excellent.
If you've not heard of the Trans-Iowa Canal Co.™ (TICC), you're not alone. Despite a recent fifteen-month, three-state tour, surveys show that there are still literally millions of people in the Midwest who haven't the slightest idea that this ad-hoc, SF theater troupe exists. In fact, many of those familiar with the TICC by name admit that they have successfully avoided attending one of the Company's perfomances - no small feat, considering that there have been over two dozen original productions staged by the two TICC branches (East and West) in the last fifteen years.
However, this year's DemiCon will provide Midwest residents and visitors alike with the penultimate opportunity to catch a portion of the TICC West's "Takin' 'em by Storm" tour. Marking the busiest year ever for the troupe, the tour began in March of '94, kicking off with the Company's inexplicably popular "Deep Spaced Blackadder" at the opening ceremonies of DemiCon IV. Since then, the Company has underwhelmed audiences in Lincoln ("Dances with 'Droids"), Minneapolis ("Dances with 'Droids - the Director's Cut"), and … Ames ("CPU-TV"). The tour finishes in June with another original production to be performed in Omaha at Con*tretemps 8.
If all of this has made you curious, well .. you couldn't possibly be more curious than the odd group that will be performing at the DemiCon V Opening Ceremonies, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. So -- come and see the TICC West on their "home turf*. And remember the
