Midwestern Wholesomeness Meets the Outer Limits

At present, wierdness is still legal… so the Des Moines Science Fiction Society (DMSFS) flourishes. With over 40 members on the roll — including some diehards from as far away as Ames, Ogden, Jewell, Iowa City, and Northfield, Minnesota — we have ample evidence that insanity is alive and well in the Midwest.

Sure, the DMSFS folks sponsor DemiCon… but they do so much more. They get together for meetings, meals, and parties. They're among the first in line for the Des Moines premiere of any major SF film. They help out at the annual IPT telethon (while they're showing Dr. Who, of course). In short, DMSFS is a good place to meet folks with similar "fhannish" interests — fantasy and science fiction, role-play gaming, computers, the space program, hard and soft sciences, alternative philosophies, costuming, penguins, and more.

Why not join them? Meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month, at ever-changing locations, and at either 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. (depending on where the meeting is). For the place, date and time fo the next get-together, call Mark Hagerman at (515) 277-####, or the famous Les-and-Jeannette answering service at (515) 270-####. Help us find out how many folks it takes to reach wierdness "critical mass."
