Trans-Iowa Canal Co.™

What do Harlan Ellison, Brooke Shields, Dan Quayle, and Zsa Zsa Gabor all have in common? They can all say (with a sigh of relief) that they have never heard of the Trans-Iowa Canal Co.™ (TICC). That's okay, though… we've heard of them, and have taken the liberty of including their names in one of our past opening-ceremonies skits — all for the sake of a cheap laugh. Why? Because that's what we do. We'll poke fun at anyone, and steal from anywhere, if we think a joke will elicit even a mild chuckle. Sure, it's shameless, but we'll do anything to provide you guys with nearly an hour of hilarity. Take, for example, this witty exchange from a previous TICC performance:

Actor #1: Gee, Tammy Faye… the penguins carrying the Oprah Winfrey Hypno-ray devices have mutated into seventy-foot monstrosities, and are currently running amok through downtown Altoona. Whatever shall we do?
Actor #2: Uh… I forgot my line.

Gosh. You can't beat that for top-notch humor. So if you haven't yet heard of us, cast aside your veil of ignorance, and come see this year's performance by the TICC West on Friday at 7 p.m. in Main Programming. Remember: we know who you are… we have a joke with your name on it; protect yourself by being there today!

Writer's Workshop

Once again, author Mickey Zucker Reichert has generously volunteered to sponsor this year's DemiCon Writer's Workshop. In order to best accommodate people, participation will be limited to a handful of aspiring prose-penners. The sign-up sheet will be located at the information desk in the lobby; once it's full, it's full. Participants should report to Secondary programming (Iowa Room) at 11 a.m. on Sunday with manuscript in hand to begin whipping their works into publishable shape!
