OTHER GUESTS

Rob Chilson is the sort of author that does the Midwest proud. From such early works as The Star-Crowned Kings and The Shores of Kansas to the more recent Men Like Rats and Rounded with Sleep, Rob's writing just keeps getting better and better. Plus, he's one of the few pros that answers his mail promptly, so he's bound to be popular with harried con committees.

Darlene P. Coltrain, artist, is living proof that Iowa is not the cultural wasteland that many perceive it to be. Hailing from Monticello, she possesses an elegant, graceful style that both captivates the eye and moves the soul. She served as Artist Guest-of-Honor at ICON XIII. And, last but not least, we wish to note that she also answers her mail promptly.

David Cook is truly a multi-talented individual, but at his request, we'll mention just one: his writing. His novel Horselords is currently in print, and another novel, Beyond the Moons, is due out "sometime this year." Currently residing in Wisconsin, Dave attended the University of Iowa; his presence at DemiCon proves that "you can take the boy out of Iowa, but you can't expect him to return unless his wife has relatives living in Des Moines."

Glen Cook isn't much for panels, but you needn't look far to find him; he is a perennial fixture in the huckster room of any con he attends. This makes it easy for you, the fan to both purchase one of his books and get it autographed at the same time. If you're new to Glen's work, our local Glen Cook connoisseurs suggest his Black Company novels (all five of them), his Garrett books (all five of them), or anything else he's written.

Robert C. Cornett (yes, we're still in the 'Cs') has written or co-written — as in, "sold/published" — some forty-odd novels (some of them very odd indeed). While most of Bob's novels contain a lot of mayhem, death, and destruction, he's basically a pretty calm guy. Perhaps it's because we know his sedative of Choice… Beam's Choice, that is. Anyway, you can judge the dichotomy for yourself by reading one of the books in the Time Mercenaries or Fifty Million Years War series, which he co-wrote with author Kevin Randle.

Robert "J. R." Daniels was last year's DemiCon Artist Guest-of-Honor… but he decided to join us again anyway. That's fortunate for us, because he has a talent for making the fantastic come to life in a truly dazzling fashion. And he may be one of the few folks left who truly understands the art of partying; watch him in action some evening, and you'll see what we mean.

Gregory D. Frost does an incredible Irish accent, which may be why his writings have often leaned toward Celtic mythos. In addition to such novels as Tain and Remscela, he has published a number of short stories and poems. And if that isn't enough, he was recently able to display his acting talents in Somtow Sucharitkul's horror film, The Laughing Dead. Be sure to ask him or Billjohn (see next bio) sometime about the "po-TAAY-toes."

William A. "Billjohn" Johnson is more than a fan. Well, maybe not. But he has
