Greetings again, fans and gentlefolk! We're glad that you could join us once again for DemiCon II. Thanks to the overwhelming support of Midwestern fans, we anticipate another weekend of memorable fun with several hundred of our closest friends. Last year, our attendance was 383; this year, our rough estimates based on pre-registration figures put us at over 400.
In analyzing DemiCon I, we concluded that by-and-large, the success of that event was not due to how we ran our con. Rather, it was due to the fact that you made DemiCon your convention. You worked hard, and you played hard. You told us what you liked, and what could have been done better. We hope that we have managed to provide a framework which will allow you to do the same this year. You'll see some of the stuff you liked best in '90 (such as Sunday's "Win, Lose, or Draw" audience participation game), some of the stuff you wanted in '90 (including more food in the Consuite), and a few surprises.
For those of you who didn't hear about us last year until it was too late, you may want to know how to get started in this year's fun. To this end, you'll find several programming items offered which may help you to discover what Science Fiction conventions are all about. Events which are highly recommended for first-time convention-goers are indicated with an asterisk in the pocket program guide (included with, but separate from this program book; if you didn't get one, you can pick one up at the registration desk).
Information about the specifics of this year's event can be obtained as follows:
"Last year's success was not due to how we ran our con. The fact is, you made DemiCon your convention."
Once again, we invite all convention members to let us know what you need and how we're doing. Your input will help make DemiCon III an even greater success!
